This city is less economically prominent, so the skyscrapers are yet to be built. But that will change soon.

The hilly suburbs are similar too.

Chongqing is heavily polluted (not as bad as Beijing, but pretty bad according to US standard.)

Chongqing is the gloomiest major city in the world too, with 1000 annual sun shine hours. Much cloudier than London or Seattle.

And that was before it turned red in September!


They say it's now the color of tomato juice, and they don't know why!

Prior to it turning red, they called it "golden" colored (first picture).

They did before the 1980s, but most have been torn down since then, as a result of "development".

Chongqing was the war-time capital of China during WWII and was destroyed by bombs just like London and Berlin.
