I'm currently a CMU grad student and I need to go to NYC every week for recruiting.

I've looked into several transportation methods to get to NYC and was wondering if I may have missed any:

1. Megabus - $150
2. Flight - $400
3. Fly to BOS then take bus to NYC - $160 ($70 one-way + $10 bus)*2
4. ???

Thanks!

4. Jet Blue $352 (round trip)
5. Greyhound $66 (round trip)
6. Amtrak (can't get pricing online right now.)
7. Drive, park in NJ and catch the train. $100 in gas. Parking at the train station depends on how long you're staying.

Go Greyhound. Just don't let New York Port Authority terminal eat your soul.

That's a great option because it's direct. It's $105 round trip.

Megabus can be way cheaper if you book enough in advance.

I don't think I've ever seen a Megabus fare that high. You must be picking days that are already extremely booked or very popular.

Megabus can be sub-$50 ROUND TRIP if you are able to pick the right days and book enough in advance. I picked a Saturday and Monday in mid-November. This is by far the cheapest. Fridays and Sundays seem to be most expensive. I think most weekdays are less.

Flying to Boston is crazy. Boston isn't that close to NYC. It's 215 miles, which is the same as going from Pittsburgh to Buffalo, and only slightly shorter than here to DC or Baltimore. Traveling out to our airport, getting checked in, flying to Boston, getting from the airport to the bus terminal, and then a 3 and a half hour or more bus ride to NYC, with the reverse on the return trip. This would get old very quickly. Both Greyhound and Megabus are cheap if you book ahead.

If you drive to NYC, you're going to pay like $50 each way in tolls.
