Pirates threaten legal action over authority's refusal to pay for PNC Park repairs | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The team hasn't been selling enough tickets to fill the capital fund and wants money to upgrade scoreboards and replace the carpets in the Lexus Club. Why not let the taxpayer fund it?

I'm no fan (in fact hate may he a good word) of the Nuttings but the point of contention the SEA is hanging on (that replacing electronic components needs to use the same tech as when the stadium was built rather than current technology) seems rather wrong.

I hope the Bucs get told it's a "bridge year" and there's no "financial flexibility".

Maybe I was reading it wrong, but I interpreted the point of contention over the replacement of the out of town scoreboard to be whether it was a repair at all, or if it is just an upgrade. Is it worn out and no longer working, or do they just want something newer and fancier? We can't really tell from this article.

Agree lots of specific information lacking from the article but the statement from the SEA at least seems to suggest that even it it was broken they would only agree to replace it with the exact same device.

Basically it's just a large scale landlord-tenant dispute

yeah that is the issue. most likely the lease makes a distinction between capital improvements and necessary repairs. i would say carpet is necessary but not sure on the other.
