This one is interesting. Here is an old 2002 P-G article about about the demolition of the 1854 Thomas Leet Shields house to make way for the faux chateau that sits there now.

Edgeworth house razing raises some ire

The property is described as an 8-bed 5-full bath 4-half bath 5-fireplace 14,570 sq ft single family home build in 2007 and owned by the Jankowski Revocable Trust. Seems Glen Meakem lives there.

This joint is out by McMurray; don't know much about it apart from driving past one day & being a bit awed by something you don't see around here everyday

I think this one is the winner:

As the 28,000-square-foot, baronial-style home nears completion after more than a year of construction, it dwarfs the multimillion-dollar houses that share Beech Ridge Road and rises above the tall trees surrounding the 13th hole of the adjoining Sewickley Heights Golf Club.

North Hills entrepreneur builds 18-bedroom home in Bell Acres - Pittsburgh Business Times

I believe this is the zillow listing: 137 Beech Ridge Dr, Sewickley, PA 15143 - Zillow

The county has it listed at 33,444 finished square feet with 12 bedrooms and 21 bathrooms, 22 fireplaces, stone exterior and slate roof.

The only pictures I could find are from a competing site, but here is a youtube video

Isn't it ironic that Glen Meakem, the man who had the historic Leets Shields house demolished, was the chairman of the board of the Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania? Talk about hypocritical

I've walked down Woodland and seen his house when exploring Sewickley, and although his mansion is big, it lacks the character the smaller, less pretentious, older homes have on the street.

Anyway, the largest home in the Pittsburgh region is probably that one in Bell Acres that looks like a castle. A realtor I know who's from Sewickley told me that only one man lives there, and that it has 21 bathrooms.

Okay as an addendum to my previous post, I just realized that the 15 car garage of the Bell Acres house mentioned above may have some additional square footage due to space finished above the garage. I am not sure if it is being reassessed, but the new square footage looks to be closer to 40,000.
