It will just as likely be a rain storm.

I'm not a meteorologist nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I'm looking at the picture. Using the color key on the left, I see we're in the 1 to 1.5" of precipitation area. How is that massive? That's a good Spring rain.

The storm may be "massive" in size (Canada to Cuba) but not strength.

if it comes in the form of snow, 1-1.5" of precip will be anywhere from 6-18" of snow depending on how cold the air is at the time. that is indeed a large amount of moisture for a winter storm. Not saying it will happen, but the way this winter has been, i would not doubt at all that we get a large late march snow storm. The pattern looks like its going to hold strong through this month and into next with the ridge in the west and trough in the east.

Depends upon the air temperature and whether or not that precipitation falls as rain or snow obviously. Snow-to-liquid ratios could be anywhere with that: Snowfall/Meltwater Table

According to accuweather, on that date (3/14), it's going to be sunny and in the low 40's.

Somebody's prediction is wrong as of now...

Yawn. Bring it. I have a big "unsafe" 4WD diesel pickup truck and a set of chains. Get out of my way, bicyclists, pedestrians, and h_curtis. This ain't no candy SUV, here.

(Is this not the longest, most monotonous winter, ever???!)

If it would be all snow, an inch of liquid as snow is usually between 10 and 14 inches so if we would get this precip to fall of snow, it could be up to 18 inches.
