Driving from Ohio to Cranberry it quickly becomes obvious how mismanaged Pennsylvania is. It cost nearly $5 in tolls to drive from the border to Cranberry on the Turnpike. At the same time gasoline cost significantly less in Ohio. This is a function of the mismanaged government in Pennsylvania and our terrible politicians are responsible. We do we put up with being ripped off by our government leaders?

For those traveling to Pittsburgh from the east. expect to need almost a $20 bill to go from Harrisburg to Monroeville.

It's actually $21.30 currently for non-EZ Pass holders to travel from Monroeville to the Harrisburg/East interchange. That will be going up 5% in January. I just got EZ Pass. You should, too.

I rarely use the Turnpike and I know people now who are planning to avoid it even if it takes longer. The Turnpike tolls are not a little high they are outrageous as is the price of gasoline in PA. We can thank our politicians they are responsible for this mess.

For us the time savings of taking I-76 to my partner's family's homestead in Lancaster vs. taking U.S. Route 30 the entire way is well worth paying the ~$15 each way via EZ Pass. Others may feel like their time is less valuable.

As long as people put up with it nothing will change and we will continue to pay far more than we should. Complacency is how the politicians get away with situations like this.

Great, don't drive it and don't pay the tolls. Less congestion for the rest of us. You pay for what you use. The failure to toll I-80 and share the burden statewide is a legitimate concern. Mindless complaining about tolls helps no one and achieves nothing.

On the flip side.... Cranberry to the border = $0. So it sort of evens out a bit.

first time coming to PA I took us 30 from breeezewood to avoid the toll.. never again. nothing like driving up the mountains when its snowing and theres a semi that looks like its about to fall off the edge.

took me ages to get to the suburbs. Monroeville area.

No, anyone who drives the Turnpike is paying for much more than they use. There is no way it should cost $20 for a passenger car to drive from Harrisburg to Pittsburgh. They fact that it does shows obvious mismanagement. Not everyone can afford to support that mismanagement with their hard earned wages.
