Imagine, the fog lifted just a bit, enough to see the overcast sky actually. The first time in three days I could actually see the cloudy dismal sky above without the drizzle or fog. Lord help us that we actually see sunshine within a week.

It has been rough for the last week or so. Does the sun still exist?

Not sure - the sun is a Browns fan....taking it pretty hard, maybe, this quick disillusion of being competitive and a winner, I mean.

For the first 40 some years of my life I lived in the Pittsburgh area and it still holds a special place in my heart, and I am still a Steelers fan. However, I simply got tired of the very few months of nice weather there and had to move to Florida.

Right after the 9/11 incident, my GF and I went back to Ohio and Pittsburgh for her class reunion and then I wanted to see my old stomping grounds. The first thing both of us noticed was that the sky wasn't the same deep blue it is in Florida and this was in early September.

So, as much as I love that area, you can keep the cold, damp, snowy climate. It is so nice to go outside in January with a short sleeve shirt on and not be falling down on ice.

Me too. This weather reminds me of San Francisco.

...And I would die if I had to live in Florida. The summers would kill me. I grow up down south and feel like I rarely went outside from May through September because heat and humidity feels miserable to me. Thank goodness we are all different!

Is pghdude28 back? If so, it is going to be a long winter, not only for him, but for those of us on this forum. It's very simple. Pittsburgh and much of the northeast has dreary weather from Thanksgiving to Easter. This should come as no big revelation. I have no problem with the token post stating as much if you are a newcomer or not. Just don't shove it down our throats. Anybody that pays attention will notice that Pittsburgh does not have the weather extremes as many other places. The cloud cover moderates the temperature. The temperature really tends to dip a lot more when there are clear conditions. It is called radiational cooling. The clouds trap in what heat there is. I like to pretend that I'm in England. Those who need wall to wall sunshine 300 days a year need to move out west. You are in the wrong city.

^^^^^^ Exactly, people kill me acting like Pittsburgh is an anomaly.... Pittsburgh is just like the rest of the Northeast during this time of year. When I lived in NYC and Philadelphia, you could go for days without seeing the sun during this same time of year, Rain for several days.... just like here.

If you find Pittsburgh weather depressing during this time, then you need to leave the NE altogether.
