Hello, I'm looking for some guidance on two different areas that I am interested in moving to. One property is behind Fairhaven Park in Kennedy Township, and the other is close to Carnegie Park right by Green Tree. Obviously I've heard (like anyone else) about the poor reputation of McKees Rocks, and based on the selling price of the Kennedy Township property, I'm wondering if that price is due in large part to the location? Overall, what's Kennedy like, I guess is what I'm getting at. Are people seeing the seedy parts of McKees Rocks moving up into Kennedy? The other property is a great location, close to downtown, 10 minutes from Mt. Lebo, right by the parkway, but the cost of the home seems to be driven a little bit by it's location. Those are certainly pros to owning the Green Tree property. As I mentioned above, I'm just looking for some opinions on the different areas. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Kennedy Township is nice, mostly single family homes, shopping opportunities at a brand new Giant Eagle up there as well as the Ohio Valley hospital and convenient to I-79.

I don't see it as a negativity at all, the traffic seems more reasonable out there than in Green Tree.

I'd say Greentree. Just nicer, safer feel overall to me. Easier in the winter to drive.

Also, there is some sort of toxic waste dump (superfund site?) right by the Giant Eagle in Kennedy.

Why are you specifically looking at these 2 suburbs and these 2 specific properties?

Just guessing that your choices are influenced by budget and closeness to your workplace, which is near 376W? I would recommend expanding your search to nearby areas, like Carnegie, Dormont and Crafton, which will give you a lot more selection while fitting the general trend of Kennedy Twp./Green Tree.

I'm good friends with someone who lives in Kennedy, and am there often. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "behind Fairhaven Park", but if you'd be where I think you'd be, it's a very safe area. If I wasn't looking at a map, I'd forget it was anywhere near McKees Rocks*. Besides, it's on the opposite side of the seedier areas of McKees Rocks.

*This is a topic for another day, but McKees Rocks isn't nearly as bad as its reputation.
