I scanned through a bunch of threads in the forum already but most were pretty discrete about any specific recommendations, mostly saying "I might know someone, PM me," etc., so I figured a new thread was fair game.

So, anyone have any recommendations for a good, reliable, honest, and affordable mechanic (I'm hopeful those are not all mutually exclusive terms!) who works on foreign cars (Nissan) somewhere within a few miles of Greenfield?

I am seeing lots of good reviews (Yelp and other sites) for Walter's in up in East Liberty (distance not an issue for me) and also Homer's (walking distance from my house), but we all know that Yelp's reputation is questionable at best, so I thought I'd check here for more reliable info from the locals.

Thanks in advance!

Walter's is amazing. I go there, as do a ton of my friends. As a young female who doesn't know a lot about cars, I never feel I am getting ripped off. He is straightforward and honest.

I go to Homer's service center on Murray Ave. in Greenfield. They have been honest, reliable, and as affordable as possible these days with us.

I have friends who use Homer's and have only good things to say.

Another vote for Homer's. We have used them since we moved here. They are fair and honest.

OK, good to know. Those two (Walter's and Homer's) certainly bubbled up to the top of the various ratings sites, too.

I think I'll make Homer's my preferred mechanic. (Met Mr. Homer, Sr. today, as his son is away in NYC for the weekend.) It's about a mile from home so a not-too-bad walk, and although he is popular, I think he's less so than Tim Walter--Homer's is booked up until Tuesday, while all reports on Walter's say that he's booked up "weeks" out.

Have an appointment at Homer's on Tuesday to get my ignition cylinder repaired or replaced (keeps jamming up, and taking it out myself was not going well when I tried this morning). We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the confirmation!
