Wasn't that the place about where Five Guys is now? If it is I'm pretty sure I was drinking illegally in there before they were eventually shut down by the LCB. When I started working in Oakland in the early 90's, it was Calico's, SOD, PHI, Duke's, Luna/Chief's/Mitchell's trifecta, Cj Barney's, The Decade!

Well let me dust off some brain cells.. Back in 1990 or early 90s I was living across from the Pittsburgh Sports Garden and then Hooters, just up the hill side on East Sycamore Terrace.

Happy Hour would commence at Froggy's before exiting the downtown area. Southside was becoming more and more popular.

One place not mentioned was Gene's down on 51 outside of the Liberty Tubes. Loved the music in that place. The Decade still existed and was the Primary stop in Oakland. A little Bon Ton Roulet to kick it off... From there who knows...

Yep
Zeldas had cheap drafts, $1 or maybe even 50cents.
Happy hours flooded with underage kids.

Spent many a night in Mitchells especially since I lived a half block away.

In 1990 I was 15 years old. The only Oakland activities I knew was movies at Kings Court and a hoagie from Miami Subs. By 16 I would attend Pitt Parties and Jamaican/reggae boat rides on the Gateway Clipper. Oh......Spinning Wheels roller scating rink via the old trolley cars.

Remember Ray, Bud, Kevin and Julie? The vacant place was between me and you. We played a lot of pool into the wee hours, only beat you once!

I sure do. I was in that one before you guys and once again afterwards. Guessing you're not Ray as he ended up moving next door. Those were some crazy times.

So which one are you?

Kevin, and they were indeed crazy times. We left after the blizzard, the group dynamics had broken down after that winter but we all remain friends to this day.
