Doubt it, EL is losing its "stigma" more and more everyday. I envision by the time Development reaches over that way EL will carry the same "hip" cache as Shadyside. It'll be solidified as East Liberty, which most long time residences already call that area anyway.

What in tarnation is going on here? Where will this all end? Rainwater barrels on houses, chickens and bee hives in back yards, green space and parks, bike racks, bike lanes and bike rental stations, new transit hubs, solar roofs, people walking the sidewalks at all hours of the day and night, solar parking meters, natural fiber clothing stores, organic food stores, and tiny houses!

This place is turning into some socialistic nightmare!

We still have limited public transit compared to other cities. Cashless isn't very impressive. At this point I would be happy to get a yes or no on one BRT.

My grandfather had chickens in his back yard in the 1930's, Pittsburgh has always been a big "walking" town, if you see how many city steps there are and Pittsburgh has always had walkways through unconventional places like the Armstrong tunnels.

Avant garde types have always been around here, characters like Jamie Von Trump pushed for preservation many years ago.

The only thing that might change is if these folks get smug and start thinking they are better than others. That didn't happen in the past.

if only time could be stopped so the old rugged individualism that created housing projects and traffic circles could be kept!

in a lot of ways we (as a country) seem to be returning to a modern version of the old way after a period of "socialistic nightmare" in the post war era...at least insofar as cities are concerned.

And we need to work to correct that .... Better Public Transit needs to be at the forefront in our quest for improving all things transportation wise. Widening Parkways only solves the problem for Suburban Car-Huggers, and people who want to own the road with their Monster Trucks. Doesn't solve any problems for Car-less people wanting to get to jobs out in the Burbs or wherever.

A Cashless Culture in Public Transit is a HUGE benefit. It helps keep service on Time, less time spent at stops. Keep the Passengers from paying more than they need to, and it allows PAT to offer various value services that wasn't possible with a "Paper" Culture.

You're never going to get me to see the value of everyone owning personal vehicles over the benefits of Mass Transit (Bus, Light Rail, Access, Cabs, Jitneys, Ride Sharing Services) I consider to be the entire make up of Mass Transit, not just "THE BUS"....
