There's nothing in Pittsburgh that Islamist terrorists could give two hoots about. Sorry.

There are a lot of things that irritate islamic terrorists, and although you may be right now, by the weekend it could change. Someone from Pittsburgh could post a "youtube" this evening, and Pittsburgh could become a top target by the weekend.

Churches. Pittsburgh also has a large Jewish and gay community. Pittsburgh also has the most bars per capita which I don't think ISIS will like too much.

Gosh, you guys sound like we kids did during the Cold War. We always thought Pittsburgh would be bombed first for this reason, that reason, the other reason.

During most of the Cold War, Pittsburgh was the Workshop of the World with a huge concentration of heavy industry.

It would be a prime target during that era when fighting a rational enemy.

Now, of course, Men's Warehouse and Macy's on the Homestead Waterfront present a much less inviting target than the previous tenants on that lot.

Same in Omaha, because of SAC mostly.

I almost brought that up in my post; my spouse is from Omaha and he told me that. I think the point was we all thought we were going to be blown to kingdom come.

There actually was a plan to attack Pittsburgh found among documents in a terror cell raid in Hamburg.

In a nutshell a vehicle was to pull up to the loading zone next to the rear of the USX tower, a woman was to get out & collapse to bring attention to the lone security guard who would hopefully come to her aid; she would then shoot him & chuck a grenade toward the building. Grenade wasn't meant to kill anyone necessarily but was to get people in the building to run to the window to see what was happening. Then a large van bomb was up blow up. Worst case scenario was to kill a bunch of the people at the windows best case was to collapse the building (apparently the vertical support beams are hollow & filled with liquid & if punctured become unstable & would likely fail).

No clue how viable the plan could be, but there was at least a plan drawn up involving pittsburgh & specific enough that it was made with knowledge of the area.
