Does anyone have any idea what the massive problem with traffic today was? I was going between downtown and Etna on the bus - usually takes about 45min-1 hour, door-to-door. Today was one hour and 45 minutes
28 was fine - but the North Side was an absolute nightmare. Was this just because of E Ohio St construction, or was there something else going on today? The driver was perplexed about what may have caused this, I'm wondering if anyone on here may have any ideas or insight?

I may just start driving into town instead of dealing with this...

Thanks!

erieguy and his suburban friends decided to protest the lack of services the city provides to them using someone else's tax money. They organized a peaceful sit-in on a few unmarked crosswalks, as well as at the intersection of Stanwix and Liberty. SCR was so enraged that he ran them over with his Honda Fit. The entire street grid in the city had to be shut down to clear the mess that was left behind. The carnage was so bad that not even WPXI would send their camera crews in to generate hype for the story. We think this may be an indication that Curtis told some of his powerful friends at the news channel that they should avoid hyping up anything that didn't involve bicycles.

I was downtown during rush hour this afternoon and some of the problem was the setup for the Marathon this weekend--road closures, barricades, etc.

We don't protest, waste police officers time, block traffic like those with nothing else to do, etc... We already paid wasteful tax $$$ years ago. We just go to a greener pasture. Waiting around for change takes too long.

It was a mess coming in 28 this afternoon as well, backed up to where the old Allegheny County Workhouse was.

I got off there, and stopped by at Walmart to pick up a few things.

I'd never heard of this - where was it? Is the building still standing?

The Allegheny County Workhouse and Inebriate Asylum was on the site of RIDC Park, and it included a farm for the inmates to work on.

The building was razed shortly after the facility was closed about 1971.

Very interesting - never knew, or heard about that.
After this, was RIDC Park created? Or was it existing prior to 71 and expansion of it was an impetus to raze the Workhouse?
