I'd go with Hampton.

Agreed, if the choice is between FC and Hampton.

It isn't just between those two. NA seems like a good school (ranked higher than both Hampton and FC), but the class size is MASSIVE. It just baffles me that a school that huge can perform so well without their performance being somehow inflated.

Class size is huge but they're broken up over different schools. Just as an example, 9th and 10 grade is in one building and 11 and 12 are in another at a totally different location.

All the districts are very good and at least in Fox Chapel, I know of a lot of students that go Ivy League and other very high ranking colleges. Ratings aren't everything. Fox Chapel has Sharpsburg in the district and also Blawnox, so that may drag the rankings down a bit, but you still have a TON of accelerated classes offered. The pay to teachers in the Fox Chapel District is wildly high at around $82,000 average for a half year of work. Not a bad gig if you can somehow get in.

There is a stark difference between the size of a graduation class and class size. North Allegheny does have graduating classes of approximately 650 students annually, but the teacher-to-student ratio is approximately 13:1 (students to teacher). In other words, most actual classes have fewer students per teacher in most academic classes than most PA districts. The graduation rate in NA is nearly 99%, and the curriculum is rigorous and challenging throughout each grade. Because of its size, North Allegheny is able to offer many more course selections that meet the needs of the students' needs and abilities, including 23 advanced placement classes at the high school.

The downside to a school with a larger class is participation in sports, plays, and anything competitive. I was in a class of 630, just riding the pine on the b-ball team was tough. Plus, I attended one of the reunions and met 5 fellow graduates for the first time.

Some good points here, but be wary of bias related to where posters live. All in all, the districts mentioned are all good. Contrary to popular belief, NA is relatively affordable in some areas but your budget will get you a smaller older house. The "bad" areas in NA are comparatively better than the bad areas in FC though. Hampton is pretty uniformly wealthy all around.

Not really sure the distinction of diversity at Fox Chapel is widely accepted either. Seems to be on par with other wealthy districts.
