After reading the best/worst coffee thread, I noticed that the original article seemed to focus more on the atmosphere of the place than the coffee itself.

To that end, I'm wondering what the best places for hanging out and working are (coffee shop, etc.)? I usually try to hit a Panera, but some are way too busy.

Some of your Crazy Mocha locations attract a lot of people working or studying, and stay a long time, like the store on Butler Street here in Lawrenceville. Although it probably isn't as attractive now as they've lost their parking lot with the construction going on in the back of the building.

I tried that before but ended up doing 90% people watching vs 10% work

I set up shop at the library also, they always have study rooms that are available during the day.

I never thought of the library. I don't like home because when I work remotely I like to get out a bit....not feel like such a hermit. I feel like I can concentrate more when there's ambient sound and movement happening around me.

I'm the kind of person who likes to work in coffee shops, and honestly Arnolds is perhaps the best working environment I have ever come across. I'm probably biased because I am a "regular" and have gotten to know the family, but on the other hand I wouldn't be a regular if it wasn't so darn nice in there. Beautiful space, plenty of seating, and good options if you want a sandwich or a pastry. One thing that matters a lot to me is that the crowd who hangs out there reflects Pittsburgh's racial diversity in a very positive way, and most people are either professionals having a lunch meeting or else students trying to study. It's the sort of place where I really don't worry about leaving my laptop if I need to use their bathroom (which is always super clean btw), because it's such a safe and friendly environment.

I have a few east end coffee shops that I prefer. I don't stay for more than a few hours though.

I know a lot of people who rent space at The Beauty Shoppe
