It's fantastic stuff, but I think there are a few local breweries here that I prefer more. It doesn't have the mystical rarity that it had before I moved to Chicago

Iron City is a game changer. WOW! In all seriousness, Pittsburgh has come a long way with offerings from full pint, river towne, east end, church, hop farm, gristhouse, brew gentlemen, and many others. We have a long way to go if you are going to include Pitt in conversations with the western states and even many Eastern areas.

Yep..again..I'd say Pittsburgh competes fairly well with Cleveland, Milwaukee, and maybe even Philly when it comes to beer. Places like Portland, Denver, San Diego, parts of Michigan, and Chicago are an entire level above Pittsburgh, though.

The only thing this thread should enforce is that anyone can post anything on the Internet as fact, but most of the crap on the Internet is completely false and people need to start realizing most everything out there is garbage because there is no accountability at all and the Internet was designed to make money advertising. Heck just today someone posted California passed a law that allows illegal immigrants to vote because they can get a driver's license. Completely false, but it is making the rounds. Ahhh the Internet. It is truly a joke played on the people.

#1.

#2 Buffalo, #3 Milwaukee.

I believe some normalization was done to take into account per capita numbers. Don't see Iron City as carrying the town, Penn Brewery makes much better stuff. Odd beating out Portland #6 which prides itself on its beers.

The truth is that liquor licenses cost too much in the Pittsburgh region. Most start ups can't afford to be a full service bar.

I'm sorry, but if anyone honestly believes that Pittsburgh, Philly, Buffalo or Milwaukee have better beer scenes than Portland, Denver, or San Diego I cannot take them seriously. The Beer Institute is neat and all, but its a DC industry trade association, not a group of tastemakers.

apparently any authority would be better than one that releases a list not only ranking Pittsburgh above all other cities for beer but praising micro-breweries in the south side that currently do not, and have never existed.

You've committed the crime of blasting something related to Pittsburgh, and must pay.
