I consider myself a foodie, but I can't seem to find any places with an incredible Cuban in the PGH area. Any suggestions?

This was my go to at the William Penn Tap Room but the last time I went there it wasn't on the menu.

Kaya down in the strip is the only one I remember being any good.

Used to be able to get a good Cubano from one of the food trucks that parked around the Pitt campus, but of course, they all got chased away by whatever food service megacorp took over Pitt catering in the early 2000's.

Not sure why I didn't think of checking Kaya.

I'd love to have a food truck style Cuban.

Some of them relocated over behind the tennis courts at CMU. But I haven't been over that way in a few years. No idea if they're still around, of if that truck is among them.

But for sure, if you swing by Kaya, report back!

It used to be Salud in Lawrenceville but they closed, and Goldmark sits there now.

I'm not sure where Primanti's gets off not having a decent Cubano on the menu.

Hunan bar on Atwood street in Oakland used to have a Cuban that was decent. I think they don't now but will tell you the place a couple streets over that does. You could give them a call

I don't like Kayas Cuban but YMMV. I like a straight up Cuban but they tweak theirs. Tasty enough sandwich, though.

Not incredible, but the next best Cuban I've had in Pittsburgh was at Cheesecake Factory. Please let us know if you find a different, worthwhile source!

IMO, largely because their bread is so wrong for a Cuban.
