I think those links are about 2 years old or so. So from then and now, I wonder if Pittsburgh has continued to spark interest in New Yorkers or if the buzz has died down. I do know one little story. A very well-off like editor and chief of a New York magazine or such bought one of the penthouse condo's downtown for a few million I believe. I forget what her name is. If I find it I'll post it. IT MIGHT be logged way back somewhere in "Happenings"

Remember Rome was not built in a Day.

It took Dublin, Boston, Brooklyn, Queens and Miami a while to pop and People doubt me. on Dublin, Brooklyn, and Queens and look now. If you did not look into these places 10 yrs ago then your out of luck buying into it.

When Chick downtown, Karma and Original Sin opened in da burgh selling $300 pairs of shoes $600 purses and $200 pairs of jeans everyone told them they were nuts and no one will ever buy it or afford it. Well, people did buy it because there is a Burgh market for it. Same with St. Casimir Condos, Southside LOfts Carlye Luxury condos.........someone is buy those flats. I mentioned the house that was bought for $54K in August 07 and is now selling for $354k on stromberg street. They are part of a group of Wall St Hedge Fund and stock traders in NYC. they are using a few different names and are buyin up a load of properties in Carrick and SOuthside and plan on buying low and selling Sky High.

I think Angel Arms on Pius Street is another good example of the major market trend and change. All are being backed by NYC investment companies.

I recently saw your post in Happenings but will reply here so Happenings doesn't get too cluttered.

I know Burburry and Vera Wang are also interested in the Pittsburgh market.

I just have to wonder.... will all of this transformation and buzz affect the population? I wonder if Pittsburgh will see population growth within the next decade. I imagine if the job market was booming there'd be no question.

Sounds good that there is interest in Pittsburgh, but at the same time, do we really want Pittsburgh to turn into a smaller version of New York City? Do we want the traffic, the crowds, the unaffordable housing, etc?
