Oh, please not this again! We have had enough city v suburb stuff on this forum in particular, to last a lifetime.

WOW! Sorry to share an opinion of mine..................

I have met people who hated Pittsburgh, and most of them where like I said from Suburban areas. Why is this such a big deal?

I mean Pittsburgh isn't for everybody, such as the burbs are not for me.

I have shared plenty of opinions on this board that have gotten negative responses. Get used to it.

I have met people who hated Pittsburgh who were from the city. I have met people who hated Pittsburgh who were from the burbs.

We have had many of these burb/city discussions before, and they always end badly, especially when people use terms such as "soulless".

From there, I checked out housing costs and found them to be remarkably low, and the architecture of many of the houses to be amazing: The Four Square design, the brick exteriors, the small front yards (yeah No yard work), the walkable nature of many of the neighborhoods. Then inside the beautiful wood work of the staircases, stained glass windows, 2, 3, 4 or more fireplaces with original mantelpieces (too bad more of them aren't functioning). Then of course there are the pictures of the skyline, and the street views we can now get with street view maps. All of these have piqued my interest in Pittsburgh, a city I have never been too. Now the stories about the litter and the poor city management concern me. If the citizens would show a little more pride and hold their city government to a higher standard Pittsburgh really could be a gem. Architecturally, San Francisco is considered to be showplace of Victorian Architecture. Given the development of Pittsburgh, many of it's neighborhoods could be architectural showplaces too.
That is a very good post.

One thing with the comments on litter, is I always found Pittsburgh to be like any other city. YOu can go into a rundown ghetto hood and see litter, or go into a nice upscale area and see tree lined streets with flowers, and nice landscape. Just like ANY city.

I never got those comments on Pittsburgh is filled with litter. Usually just the negative people over-exagerating things.

One of the big problems is that anything negative said about Pittsburgh is attributed to "negative people over-exagerating things." I can tell you, when my parents would come to Denver from Pittsburgh, they always, each and every time they came, commented on how clean it was in Denver. That would presume they were comparing it to Pittsburgh. And they didn't usually hang out in the ghettos.

A "Clean Up Pittsburgh" campaign would probably help a lot.

^You said you parents came from Beaver Falls, a run down steel town. Where I live on the east side, Pittsburgh is beautiful. Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Friendship, etc. Also, the Pittsburgh of your "Parents time" is MUCH different than the present one.

I know commerce City, south Denver by Santa Fe, Colfax, North Denver by I-70 and many other places in Denver are not very "Clean"

Now, Please stop trying to be so confrontational.

Where is that ignore button...............

Go ahead, put me on ignore. I wasn't comparing Beaver Falls to Denver, I was comparing Pittsburgh to Denver. And they lived in a suburb of BF, not a "run-down" area.

They were comparing downtown Pittsburgh to downtown Denver. Is that specific enough?

Pittsburgh will never improve its public image if it can't take any constructive criticism.

If all posters are allowed to express their opinions about cities including Pittsburgh (even criticism), then all posters are also allowed to express their opinions about the suburbs, even if other posters happen to think those opinions are wrong. Period, end of discussion.

Please go right ahead, Awesome, and discuss your negative opinions about the suburbs all you want (just so long as it's on topic for this thread).

I see this all the time on here and I don't really get it. Complaining on this forum isn't going to clean up the litter on the streets of Pittsburgh or the suburbs.
