I've always gotten my tattoos at Island Ave Tattoos in McKees Rocks. They are very well done and reasonably priced. Island Ave has one of the best reputations for tattoos in the burgh.
I recommend Angry Moon Tattoo on E. Carson St. in the South Side. I've had two gray art pieces done there that are top notch. Cliff is the owner and he did both of mine. Also, people speak highly of Jester's Court Tattoo, same street, though I've never been there. Here's a couple pictures of both places.
American Tattoos in Verona. They do good work and are really clean. I just got a tattoo on Friday and I'm pretty sure I'll be going there from now on. Im not sure on the exact address, but I know its on Allegheny River Blvd. in downtown Verona.
Just curious as to why you want to get a tattoo? Marking my body for life is something I have no desire to do. I'm sure age is a factor. My wife works with a plastic surgeon and one of their fastest growing service is tattoo removal.

Personally, I don't want a tattoo for that reason, but if anyone decides to get one, they should get one that they won't regret later on. (Just ask Heather from Rock of Love, lol)
my rule of thumb is that when i get a tattoo idea, i wait at least a year before i get it. if i haven't changed my mind by then, i probably won't. i don't get them to commemorate significant others, although i am considering getting matching tattoos with my husband, after 15 years of friendship and then relationship! nothing with names though. i did get matching tattoos with my siblings though:
it helps that although i like tattoos, i don't really want to spend as much money as they cost, but i know that picking an artist with price as the sole consideration is a bad idea. i have one tattoo that i decided on literally 10 years ago and still want, but haven't gotten.

Yeah, I can vouch for them, too. They do EXCELLENT work.
There's a shop in Wilkinsburg, on Wood Street, who has an artist in there that's beast mode..... When I find out the actual name of the shop, I'll post it.
