To me the Slopes is more residential. In that aspect I would say Larryville. But if you ask South Side Flats or Lawrenceville, I'd pick the Flats. There is more to do there. Dining, nightlife, movies, shopping. Lawrenceville is just not there yet.

So, Lawrenceville is very much so a neighborhood in transition at the moment - eventually the yuppies will move in and Lawrenceville will become an expensive neighborhood. The question, then, is where are all of the so-called 'undesirable' people who live in Lawrenceville now going to move?
To the suburbs...probably Penn Hills...lol

The surburbanites are moving back to the city and the 'undesirables' are moving to the suburbs...this has been happening all over the country, not just PGH.

They are moving to the towns across the river. Namely, Millvale, Sharpsburg, and Etna. Nobody is getting shot, yet anyway. However, thefts have gone up. There is one reason for this: Addictive drugs like Crack and Heroin. They push it on the naive teens. When I was a teen hanging out in Sharpsburg in the late 70s and early 80s, we would have keg parties by the Highland Park dam, maybe smoke a little pot. We did not bother anybody. Now teens want to smash out your car window so they can sell your car stereo for a cheap fix. They have no regard for anybody. Not all, of course, but too many.
