Why attack Pamela's? (Pittsburgh, Oakland: credit, eat, best)

Apparently, many businesses were damaged on south Craig Street as well. In most of those cases they were national chains, i.e. Subway, Quiznos, Starbucks. I believe one or two banks as well.

However that's also a shame because south Craig is a really lively place and has lots of local businesses.

LOL, just as I was reading this thread, KDKA said Michelle Obama ate pancakes at the Pamela's in Millvale today.

And now President Obama mentions Pamela's in his closing speech. lol Damn, they must make some mean pancakes!

Actually, from what my son tells me (he was there), they weren't anarchists, they were just idiots.

anarchism as a political philosophy isn't necessarily about property destruction at all. there are lots of different schools of anarchist thought.

there are even anarcho-capitalists, kinda similar to libertarians. anarchy just means lack of government; whether that means chaos, collectivism, or even the ultimate free market depends on who you're talking to.

and i think the people doing the smashing were a combination of anarchist idiots and run of the mill idiots. i have some anecdotal evidence from people i know that a lot of the people throwing bottles and rocks at the police were people who didn't care about politics at all.

No, true, but one assumes that people who say they are anarchists and then break a window are in fact in an anarchist sub-set that believes in property destruction. If, of course, they really were anarchists...

I would think that Pamela's wouldn't be a target. I wouldn't really call them a corporate chain if it is local. I would think that the protestors would be targetting national chains. I'd consider Pamela's a mom and pop diner still (actually a mom and mom diner. )

Same reason they hit the other three buildings on that street....pansies saw that there weren't cops around and decided to use the rocks they'd probably been carrying all day. No rhyme or reason to it, just dissenters with no real idea what to dissent about.
