yet the liberals TODAY say the republicn MINORITY is overriding the democrat MAJORITY......oh the irony
There is a world of difference between having enough votes to STOP legislation and having the votes to ENACT legislation.

True enough - though NAFTA passed with MORE GOP support than Democratic.
"...with much consideration and emotional discussion the House of Representatives approved NAFTA on November 17, 1993, by a vote of 234 to 200. The agreement's supporters included 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats. NAFTA passed the Senate 61-38."
How's that?
Does THAT provide enough evidence of GOP support of NAFTA?
Face it, the GOP supported NAFTA by an even wider spread than the Democrats did.
The GOP wanted NAFTA - while most votes against it were by Democrats.
And THAT is a fact.
So - even the ONE SINGLE example you listed that was passed by a Democratically controlled Congress passed with more GOP support than Democratic support. ALL the the rest of the examples you give passed a Congress under GOP control.

BTW, the legislation set the "minimum" acceptable level of sub-prime mortages thru 2000. From that point forward (2001 and again in 2004) the W administration raised the required level of sub-prime mortgages to more than 50%.

The GOP didnt even have enough votes to STOP legislation, that didnt stop liberals from blaming them anyways.

But most Republicans opposed NAFTA.. And while we're on the topic, do you really think NAFTA is to blame for the economic crisis we are facing at the moment? We have a money crunch, not really a problem created by NAFTA..

Face it, the GOP supported NAFTA at LEAST as much as the Democrats did. In the House - even MORE SO.
The GOP wanted NAFTA.
And THAT is a fact.

yea
and
the FACT remains that the GOP, and the DNC, and clinton all WANTED NAFTA, they even said it would create jobs.......they were wrong...yet even obama has pushed for increases to all the free trade agreements (obama pushed and got (as a senator) OFTA (free trade to Oman))
the main point is that 2 MAIN ISSUES CAUSED the financial meltdown......the loss of jobs to 'freetrade agreements', and the housing bubble,,,......and they all started BEFORE Bush came into office
Finally, 30 percent of the mortgages purchased by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae would be required to come from low- and moderate-income housing. which was the liberal thing to do, by the liberal congress

Good Job W !
note the title of your link.. GOVERNMENT SPONSORED ENTERPRISES..
Government SHOULDNT be sponsoring ANY enterprise.. THATS WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM.. If government didnt sponsor the mortgages, banks wouldnt have loaned them..
but you do understand that the sub prime mortgage didnt cause the economic collapse, it was AAA mortgages, and you do know that it didnt start in america, right?

I do believe that nafta and cafta, and all the other 'freetrade agreements' did cause a loss of jobs here in the USA
clinton claimed he created 20 million jobs...actuallly he lost jobs ....he created 20 million low paying jobs, while 25 million high paying jobs left...and that CONTINUED under bush
free trade(no import tarrifs) cost us jobs...just like low tax states take jobs from high tax states

I do believe they created a loss of jobs, but I also believe that regardless of jobs, the money crunch and collapse would have taken place, especially considering the money crunch began in Switzerland (UBS Bank to be exact)

And even assuming your argument is valid - which I'm not sure I buy - those two main issues were BOTH championed by the GOP as well. The former passed with more GOP Congressional votes than Democratic ones and the latter passed under a GOP controlled Congress. Even with your own argument - which again, I'm not sure I buy - the GOP has to share blame. The Republican Party championed both of those issues.
