Where do you people get the idea that the people at the festival were hostile to the crew? They were willing to answer questions, they just didn't want to be on camera. Regardless, the crew just kept on shooting. Following the female guard and shooting here against her will was also clearly harassment.

The bottom line: A public space was rented for a private group meaning that technically the crew had no right to be there. The people at the festival were trying to talk to them but on the condition that they turn off the cameras. The crew did not oblige, and they were escorted off the premises by security.

What exactly happened that is of note here?

Eh, I disagree with you as I love both Arab and Turkish food so saying Muslim food was easier especially considering how broadly the subject is being handled on the thread.
So your basically saying all Muslims are bad , but it comes off like your not trying say it. There are Radicals in every Religion , Muslims just get the most attention. The Left isn't bending over for them , look at European some countries are trying to get rid of them. This isn't a Left or Right issue , its a Humanity issue. Which we should fix before it gets to big and exaggerated.

How about the virtual enslavement of women and honor killings?

Liberals still defend Islam and all it stands for because they are also enemies of America.

My enemy's enemy is my friend I guess.

Dearborn's new police chief, Ron Haddad, has made it clear police in that city are to stay out of the affairs of the Muslim population. They won't even write tickets on Warren Ave any more.

Well that's fine, because it doesn't. And no Christian would ever say it did. It's just sad that you could post something like that while also taking a zero-tolerance stance against any criticism of the muslim world that is posted on this forum. Whatever it is you're actually looking for, hopefully you can find it one day and be happy.

I dare you to try and talk Jesus to these people in one of their events, they will attack you.

And what if they were?

This is still America and we still have a First Amendment that applies to all persons in America, even in East Dearborn and even the Dearborn Police.

That the Dearborn Police choose to ignore that fact will have to be sorted out in court. Of course, it will be a couple more years until we have a justice department willing to charge the idiots in the video and the police who made the arrest with violating their civil rights.

Therefore, the motion for an injunction pending appeal is GRANTED as follows. The relief granted hereby pertains only to the Festival to be held June 18, 19, and 20, 2010, after which this order will be deemed to have expired. During the hours that the Festival is open to the public on June 18, 19, and 20, 2010, Saieg shall be permitted to distribute his religious literature in the streets contained within the area referred to as the “outer perimeter†or “buffer zone.†This order leaves undisturbed the ability of the defendants to prohibit Saieg from distributing his religious literature within the Festival itself. See Heffron. Obviously, this temporary order shall be fully subject to reconsideration and revision or modification by any merits panel of this court to which this appeal may be assigned.

As is indicated by this ruling, the Festival does have the right to restrict where literature can be distributed within the Festival itself.

I watched the video from the Acts 17 group talking about this years event. I particularly found humorous the younger girls testimony that it was when she "got loud" that the police arrested her. She couldn't understand why they did that. Perhaps she should talk to Henry Louis Gates and find out what happens when you get loud even on your on property.

Bottom line for me is that this group was there to cause problems, just like the Fred Phelp's Westboro Baptist church. I would advise everyone involved to be careful in handling them since people like Phelps make a living suing people who react to strongly do their despicable behavior.

Are you trying to sound like a Fascist or does it just come naturally?

Wasn't MLK there to "cause problems"?

Wasn't Harriet Beecher Stowe there to "cause problems"?

Wasn't Isabella Baumfree there to "cause problems"?

Weren't the Founders traitors to the Crown of England?

Didn't they start a war that caused the deaths of thousands?

I dread the day when no one "cause problems" to challenge the trampling of our Constitution.

If I came into your house uninvited, and started preaching to you about Islam. And you asked me to leave, and then called the police when I refused would my first amendment rights be violated?

Some of the statements made on this thread are so absurd as to be laughable. As if these people should allow these obnoxious bigots to harass them because why? Because they are Christians? Please, what a joke.

Yawn. I said bending over backward for radical Muslims is a problem so I have no idea where you got "all Muslims are bad" from. I think you just wanted to argue with someone who you thought wouldn't even know the difference between Arabs and Muslims.
