Sure. For example, they were initially against the Brady Bill, but backed down when they realized it was inevitable. However, they immediately started to weaken it. The Brady bill included a waiting period to allow records to be checked. The NRA succeeded in getting a "sunset" provision inserted into the bill that ended the waiting period after 5 years. Their supposed reason was that NCIS checks would be instantaneous by then, but it ignore the fact that many records -- including mental health -- are not in NCIS and are not instantaneous.

Then, when it was proposed by the FBI that a small fee should be charged for each check, the NRA resorted to their usual scare tactics, calling it a "gun tax". In fact, it would simply be a fee that would make the gun buyer pay their own costs instead of having all taxpayers supplement it. Funny how many gun-owning conservatives want less taxes then force me to supplement their gun buying costs.

not many know this; but for many that are denied to own a gun they can pass a background check to buy and own explosives. the regs are different. less politcally active. many that are denied gun rights should not be denied. and they would be able to apply for relief(forgiveness) except of political games. atf is not funded to do the work. you can get relief for explosives, not guns, go figure. for those of you that have never done anythig wrong, good for you. there are many that could use the support of there fellow 2nd amendment believers. remember the law was passed retro active. lets see anybody who ever smoked even once should be denied health care
