I watched the video and didn't see these folks accosting anyone and forcing their literature on them. Perhaps that part was edited out, I can't say. I did see a couple of people walk past them and not take their literature. They didn't chase them down and force them to take a copy, again maybe that part was edited out. The one thing that bothered me the most, and you all seem to miss, was the officer telling the person to shut off their camera. That is the most troubling aspect of this entire video to me. Is it against the law to video in public? Is it against the law to video police as they perform their duties in public?
The Dearborn police didn't close churches. They forced citizens of the United States to cease exercising their Constitutional right to freely exercise their religion.
Freedom of religion does not include the freedom to try to shove that religion down the throats of those who don't share one's beliefs. That is what the police stopped - confrontational proselytizing. They weren't told they couldn't pray. They were told they couldn't get in the faces of those who didn't want to hear their message.
Muslims organizations have booths set up inside the fair where they distribute religious materials.
With Christian organizations banned from the same area, how is that not an establishment of religion by the City of Dearborn?
No one has a freedom from religion since that would enable them to suppress the free exercise of someone else.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
In many ways Noviana Malewa is like any other teen-aged Christian girl in Indonesia. But it is her eyes – which reveal a sadness and strength far beyond her years – that are different, and give evidence of the emotional and mental trauma of her own experience with radical Islam, a new report concludes.
That, and the machete chop scar that runs from her cheek bone across her face down onto her neck, says the report from Voice of the Martyrs.
Just an observation but you dont seem familiar with how police police gatherings in the US. It's called law enforcement. What law were the police breaking instead of enforcing?

"A Muslim mob of 500 attacked a Christian village of Punjab province on May 1 at 11:00 am Pakistan time to avenge the alleged blasphemy that they claim was committed by some five Christian men a few days ago, ANS has learnt, reports Dan Wooding and Sheraz Khurram Khan, special to ASSIST News Service."
Didn't happen in the United States. Isn't this thread about Muslims in the United States?
Islamic extremists today set ablaze more than 50 houses and a church in this town in northeastern Pakistan following an accusation of "blasphemy" of the Quran, leaving at least 14 Christians dead, sources said. (Other news reports say six were killed and another ten injured.)

Freedom of speech doesn't include the freedom to start riots. Riots cause damage. Riots risk peoples' lives. Riots are bad things. The police are charged with preserving the peace. Mr Woods and his co-horts were trying to provoke people. And they needed to be stopped.
