Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger Tuesday signed legislation into law requiring that eggs sold in California come from hens that are not crammed into cages.

The law requires all eggs sold in the state as of Jan. 1, 2015, to come from hens able to stand up, fully extend their limbs, lie down and fully extend their wings without touching each other or the sides of cages.

Aren't there similar laws around the country regarding cattle? Minus the wings part.

Ahhhhh.....

Free range eggs.

Next it will be:

Is the chicken in the egg "alive."

Or it's really not until it hatches?

Or is it alive at conception?

Technically, one can eat a raw egg rather safely. Shall we tax eggs as prepared food (like deli items)?

Yes Dockside, with all of this time spent on the chicken thing, ya think that Cali could come up with some kind of plan to avoid bankruptcy.

I s'pose one could say that Awwwnold is putting all of his eggs in one basket.......

This one went to ballot and was approved by voters last year. Local chicken farmers were against it because of the cost of retrofit, animal activists were, obviously, for it, but it wasn't a very big issue in the state as far as I recall.

And ya know it's true.

Cuz ya saw it on the T.V.

Folks get their arms up in the air about livestock, then claim that abortion is a woman's right.

Not sayin' what your beliefs are......I'm just sayin' that there's a lot of that goin' around.
