"Blog"? This isn't some blogger's opinion, or even a newspaper's opinion piece.
You may not remember the presidential election of 2008, but Lynn Sweet came to national prominence during that time. She is/was a political columnist in Chicago who was and still is highly critical of the Obamas from a Chicagoan's point of view. The fact that she's setting the record straight -- not only in print but also on TV -- about this trip to Spain says it all for now. Possibly the people involved will comment, as time goes on -- though I'd guess now the RW media will drop it, having done the intended damage on the ever-gullible sheep by their usual means.
Her article is nothing but conjecture. Plain and simple.
"I'm told" and "White House sources" cannot and should not be construed to be that of fact. It should be considered an alternate source of information. That's it.
Again, you have a steep hill to climb if you're trying to convince everyone that Lynn Sweet is right and everyone else is wrong based on this worthless article of hers.
It's good to see that you didnt believe the lies about bringing 40 friends, forcing the Spanish police to cordon off a private beach, etc. I hope more right wingers will admit at least to themselves that they swallowed the lies hook line and sinker, and will think twice next time before trusting those sources again.

The Secret Service protection is ongoing, no matter where she is, including home in DC. If you want to complain about the SS's airfares, remember that the plane was going to Spain anyway.
As far as "people" being upset with her, it seems it's just the ones who attend Tea Parties every weekend.
Any First lady costs the taxpayers $$$ 24/7, the whining means nothing.
It means something to some people because she is the first african-american First Lady. There are people who don't like that but won't be as crude as to come out and actually say it. So instead they will use situations like this to criticize her.

And something tells me that their choice, which would have been "The Ice Queen" Cindy McCain as their First Lady, wasn't going to be the type to stay at home in the White House eating Buffalo wings and drinking sweet tea all summer(as some would prefer of Michelle Obama).

You're kidding right? What makes YOUR article any more believable than any other article out there? I'm not debating the merits, i'm debating the fact that you think that an article that offers an opposing viewpoint is all of a sudden a factual viewpoint. What's your basis for believing this blog has any more truth to it than others? I believe you've got a steep hill to climb to call your mission on this thread a success.

Right like there aren't any people at all that don't like the fact that the First Lady is an African-American.
It feels so good to know that Michelle Obama is loved and adored by all and nobody at all minds that fact she happens to be an African-American.
