This new argument from the Left that America must "prove" it is not religiously bigoted toward Islam by allowing this disgraceful mosque oh sorry, community center, to be built near Ground Zero, is bogus. America proves it every day in the thousands of mosques that have already been built here peacefully and by the fact that there have been no acts of violence against the many thousands of Muslims who live here after one of their freaks murders innocents in the name of Islam (e.g. Ford Hood murderer).
As far as I'm concerned, it is Islam that must prove to the rest of the world that they are truly peaceful and not religiously bigoted against 'infidels'.
As far as I can tell, Islam has proven itself to be an epic FAIL in that department.

You should amend that to say, "My point is that they don't do it today in the name of Christianity..."
Because, you know, torturing people to death, hanging them, burning them, running them through with a sword... all in the name of Christianity, sending their "heathen souls" to hell... I'm rather certain that their victims weren't anywhere near as concerned with WHAT they were saying, or even WHY, as they were with the pain and horror of being slaughtered by them.
No, Christians just do things like plan "Burn Quran Day"... thus ensuring we can give even more Muslims reason to hate us.

If my Muslim neighbors, friends and co-workers are somehow responsible for the terrorists, if the actions of the terrorists reflect on them... then the actions of whackjobs like Phelps and Jones is just as much YOUR responsibility, and reflects just as much on you.
Why aren't YOU stopping these nutjobs from hijacking your religion? People ask the peaceful Muslims (which far outnumber the terrorists) why they can't/won't/don't stop their bad seeds... but for some reason, Christians get a pass when it comes to stopping theirs.

Muslims hate us anyway, they hate us because we are not Muslim - the same reason they hate Hindus in India, Jews in the Middle East and everywhere, animists in Africa.
And exactly what do you suggests separates the psychotic and violent Muslims from all those great ones you believe exist? Are the violent ones ever excommunicated -- tossed out of Islam?
Are you really suggesting there are different Islams? One for the nutcases and one for the sane? Hate to tell you - but it's one big ideology, they all follow the same book and there is no iman excommunicating anyone no matter what.
You can insist that those like bin Laden are hijacking the religion - but then why isn't he and all the others thrown out? Those in control of the religion don't believe like you - that's why.
