He can sit in a cell and rot. Enjoy bologna sandwiches. Let his mind rot away--he shouldn't be allowed the privilege of working--needs plenty of time to study his religion.
Its called "Bleeding the Beast" a well known tactic of militant fringe groups like the FLDS.

This is not a difficult issue. He doesn't qualify as a conscientious objector, because he is not opposed to war in all forms. Therefore this is a court-martial-able offense and that's what he has to look forward to.

Should he actually miss movement, the penalties could include prison, forfeiture of pay and benefits, busting to E-1, and dishonorable discharge.

If he doesn't go, then he should be charged accordingly.

Muslim or no, if he's in the military, he needs to follow orders. No special exceptions.

I don't see the controversy in this. Just some soldier being an idiot.

Have you ever been in the military? I'd guess not....If you had you would know it's not like a company job.... You can go to jail in the military for not showing up to work.

It's not on job applications like it was at one time... It's like most places don't even ask if you served in the military anymore.

Hate to say it but we have a family member with one and he has never not been able to find a job...

At one time it was treated similar to a felony was it not? I assumed it still was. The question is still asked on the ATF form 4413 for firearms purchases.
