There is no denying that although others did make a contribution to this great nation of ours, it was largely white Christian men that laid the foundation and made it all possible for the rest of us. They really didn't have to provide others with rights at all.

I would like to thank the white Christians for all they have done for my tribe since they landed here in North America. Our lands that used to stretch from Nova Scotia along the St Lawrence River through the Mohawk Valley of upstate New York and Canada were appropiated for their use and development. They killed all our wildlife and the sacred beaver for their hats and graciously gave us small pox infested blankets in exchange. We gave them food and shelter in the long winters and in exchange the Hudson Bay Co. placed a bounty on all Mohawk men until they needed us to fight in their wars against our brothers the Iroquois. We thank them for letting us be the builders of New York City's skycrapers as we were the only ones brave enough to work the steel girders without a rope and for slave wages. And finally we thank them for giving us five square miles of useless land in exchange for our nation to continue our culture. Each day I ask myself "Where would the Haudenosaunee Tribal Nation be without the influence and largesse of the White Christian." We of the 6 tribes of the Haudenosaunee Nation meet and discuss the merits of the White Christian occupation and thank them for unburdening us of our lands and people.

Who made all of these natural resources "yours"? You do know another thing the white man brought was the concept of ownership. Native Americans had no concept of private ownership. So again, how was all this "yours"? And how are your views not utterly and completely racist? It sounds to me like the same argument now used by the KKK.

And just so you know, the thing about small paox covered blankets is a myth. It wasn't till a couple hundred years later that people learned how disease was spread. That being said, they did bring small pox with them. But you don't know if you would be better off had they not come. It very well could also be the case that your people could have killed each other off or died from some other cause. Would you be happier had the North African slave traders taken over the continent?

Your arrogance and disrespect is remarkable and even surpasses your lack of historical knowledge.

World Christian group apologizes to Native Americans

A global body representing 80 million Christians issued an apology for the role played by their churches in perpetrating abuse against Native Americans, First Nations and other indigenous peoples. Taking place in Grand Rapids MI, the June 18-28 gathering of Reformed Churches issued a statement saying, "We … repent of our history littered with ways in which we have betrayed Gospel values of justice, fairness, and love for our neighbour … by the confiscation of land, and mass killings."

If you can not give them credit for this, you have serious issues with your ability to think rationally.
Let's be honest. The rights, liberties and freedoms which the White Christian founders of this country were partakers of, did not apply to 4 Million Black Slaves. Therefore, making blanket statements that "all" early American settlers to this country were free, had rights and were "jumping for joy" when they arrived on the shores of America is not true and distorts America History.

Today, descendants of Black slaves are partakers of the liberties and freedoms afforded in the U.S. Constitution; but, only because they shed their blood, sweat and tears to obtain such rights and liberties. Nothing came easy and nothing was GIVEN to Black people in America. Black people fought hard for the freedoms and liberties they enjoy today. This is the reason why many black people cringe when they hear White people boast of the freedoms and liberties their ancestors and other Early Americans settlers so enjoyed when they arrived on the shores of America.

They don't experience 1/100th the persecution that blacks, hispanics, immigrants, disabled or gays experience.
Did you read the original post? It has nothing to do with persecution. It has nothing to do with having it easy today.

Try reading it again.

Our founding fathers did not "partake" of anything - they created those liberties. The idea that certain rights are God given is a philosophical concept. In reality, there are no God given rights as nature doesn't respect people's rights. For this we need a society that guarantees them. The Framers were simply trying to make the point that certain rights should be viewed as if God given.

And you are correct that the liberties our founding fathers GAVE all of us were originally intended for white people as is evidenced by the fact that originally only white male land owners were allowed to vote. Freedom of religion on the other hand was extended to all faiths. In essence, it is not incorrect to interpret the intent of the Framers to create a nation that was primarily the property of Whites.

Clearly, ownership of slaves is wrong and slavery should never have existed in this country. But the thing to understand is that slavery has been around since the dawn of man and has been practiced world wide. It was in fact the Catholic Church that led the charge to end slavery and it was white men that made it happen. Blacks fought during the civil war on both sides, but it was largely the white people in charge that put and end to slavery not just here but internationally as the Muslim slave traders were intercepted at sea.

Once the slaves were freed, they could easily have been sent back to Africa. It was white people who decided to grant them citizenship and it was largely white people who are credited for all liberties granted to them. After all, the white people were the only ones in power to do so. It was white people who freed the slaves, gave them the right to vote, outlawed Jim Crow and segregation and elected the first black president. What examples do you have of Blacks effecting these changes without the support of Whites?

Really, in most other countries the same wouldn't be true. In many other countries, even after being freed, Blacks would continue to be second class citizens. It is only in the context of our Constitution that Whites are under any obligation at all to include any other race in what they built. Like I said, America is somewhat unique in this regard. Many other countries would leave you to be second class citizens for ever and nobody would think twice about it.

In the end, few would argue that Blacks in America today are not better off than 90% of the world's population and that this is due to the nation's founders.
