I just looked up book burning on Wiki. Stalin, Hitler... and some people upset with Harry Potter books. Nice group of people to be 'associated' with. Real stand up humans I say.....

and there's the obligatory Hitler reference, folks.....
Now look up flag-burning and human bombs. I'm guessing you'll find some guys from al qaeda. Honestly...I'm not impressed.

Again, I ask, what gets accomplished? The wiki search turned up not one positive result regarding the burning of books. That and many of the people associated with book burnings turned out to be, at the very least, narrow minded individuals. Folks that DEMANDED acknowledgment that the earth was flat all the way to folks that figured genocide was A-OK.
Do you think if it was Bible burning day it would get this much attention?
If it was a local mosque burning Bibles there would be way more outrage, and more attention from the media in my opinion. Every evangelical church in the country would be picketing outside the mosque.
Although it is well within their rights, I don't think book burning achieves anything except to make some people very angry, and in this case has the potential to generate more violence and hatred towards out soldiers. For that reason I am surprised there is not more protest against this act.
I would add that for people who get such pleasure out of burning and trampling upon the U.S. flag, they shouldn't be so sensitive about the burning of some paper with writing that most of the burners can't even read. Geez... If they r...e...a...l...l...y want to complain they should talk to the people who run their countries. The guys who keep all the cash for the oil they sell.
It's not like it's banning or forbidding the book. More like getting divorced in a big ceremony... a public commitment to denounce. Not like a government action to restrict access... YOu burn yours... I'll keep mine. Kinda like the ladies and their bras in the 60's. Maybe the churchers should be nekkid while burning the books.
A lazy answer. And not an accurate one. I think both extremes of political thought are notorious for trying to suppress views they don't like.
