But, but. . .Michael Moore said it was a paradise!

(as he became a millionaire telling his lie).

Sounds like the US embargo is winning in the end . Although I don't have much hope for Cuba. If anything, they will go the China route with a single party "democracy" and a heavily regulated capitalist economy like China and Vietnam.

No, it was not the US embargo. Way more than that crumbled Cuba but it took a long time before it was finally admitted.

I was quite surprised at this. And, he criticized Iran and I'madinnerjacket for their ravings against the Jews.
I never thought I'd agree with Fidel on anything and now he comes out with these gems.

Maybe his near death illness woke him up. From that article it seems he's becoming quite the international person.

The embargo is a glorious failure. The way to subvert Cuba is with capitalism and a consumer society. Once ordinary Cubans taste those delights, communism is finished there. The embargo, by depriving them of capitalism, has prolonged communism there by at least 20 years.

It is working, sure it took over 50 years to achieve, but hey, nothing is perfect. All the while the Soviet Union collapsed 20 years ago, along with the Eastern European Block, and China has been Walmarts biggest supplier since the late 90's.

I bet a Sentra would blow their minds in Cuba compared to the Soviet cars they used to get.
