Rather than fight for our freedoms, Petraeus' plan is for American's too give up all the freedoms that upset the Muslims.

(Most importantly here, our right to express ourselves.)

That seems to be the case.

TO protect our freedoms,it is best to not express them openly in case we offend crazy people.

As far as "expressing our freedoms," some expressions of that freedom are more high minded than simple p*nis waving.

The burning of a religious text is primarily a matter of free expression.

The objection to that burning was that it would incite violence by Muslims.

Accordingly, the right to free expression is being threatened by hostile and irrational Islamist. The solution being proposed is to appease the Islamist, and forfeit the right to expression.

You don't not believe in liberalism if you believe religious groups can rightfully quash criticizem with threats of violence.

More so if you blame the ensuing violence on the person exercising his rights, rather than on the irrational violent religious group.

This seems lost on some...

I wonder if those involved in the Civil Rights movement who knew there would be violence by their actions are seen in the same light by some???

It's starting to look to me like we're fighting ourselves...

Those in favor of pacifying the Muslims and those who are in favor of exercising our rights.
