While the Imam behind plans for a mosque near Ground Zero was jetting around the globe and advocating for his Downtown project, a pair of dilapidated apartment buildings he owns in New Jersey fell into such disrepair that cops have to stand watch in the event of a fire.
The fire watch, at taxpayer expense, was revealed during a court hearing today when Union City lawyers asked to have two buildings owned by Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf placed into receivership so that rent s could be used to fix dozens of violations, including inoperable alarms and sprinklers.
Rauf skipped today’s hearing as did his wife Daisy Khan. Their lawyer, Tomas Espinosa, said he didn’t know why the Imam didn’t come to court.

I heard this story on TV last evening (9-15) and it sure sounded like the imam is nothing but a big city slumlord. I guess he though not showing up in court would show that he wanted his case decided under Sharia or something like that. He is going to end up eating the papers he showed for ownership of Burlington Coat Factory along with whatever money he raised on his trip to the MIddle East.
I hope some uninformed lefties come plowing in here telling us we are wrong and the imam did nothing wrong. All one needs to do is read the link to learn about him, but they don't want to play that game.
No "American" would be like this, only muslims.
Yeah, I get it.
The ever Muslim apologist.
The liberal MUST be a Muslim supporter, despite thier promotion of barbarity and oppression, as it is a "logical" foil against Christianity, the natural enemy of both Islam and liberalism.
The liberal has been conditioned to be a "Christophobe" by Stalin and the Frankfurt School, as it was and is recognized as an impediment to the spread of socialism/communism to the west. The left, as "useful idiots", have embraced this anti-Christian stance without knowledge of its origins. Thier handlers have simply told them what to think, and they incorporate these "views" without question. Too bad they do not realize they have been played for fools. However, I always find it comical when the liberal is left in the uncomfortable position of defending a barbaric, feudal, cruel religion that they know, somewhere in that last shred of reasonable thought stuck way, way back in their minds, that this practice is wrong. It must be a very interesting conflict to experience.

A truly sad example of one who is in desperate need of Christian teachings.

How about the fact his religion has nothing to do with this. Look around NY and you'll find Jewish, Catholic, Protestant slumlords too. Religion is relevant HOW?

I agree with you there.
This is just another attachment, to his viewed character as a human.

Ah yes if he is so peaceful and compassionate, where is his concern and compassion for his tenants, get real! This just shows his character.
And WHERE is the concern and compassion of Christian slumlords?
And WHERE is the concern and compassion of Jewish slumlords?
Try taking your own advice and GET REAL!
As it is, the character you're showing is your own.
Has nothing to do with his religion, goes to his character. I can't believe you support this scum.
