As a strong conservative, I fully support repealing DADT. I would rather it be done once a study is complete but doing it now really wouldn't bother me. There are gays in the military, there will always be gays in the military so why treat them differently?

I think folks should get their panites out of a wad and wait for the DOD to finish their study and get their report to Gates, as is scheduled, by Dec. 1st.

If the report is affirmative for DADT repeal, what would be your opinion then?
Isn't DADT the law that prohibited recruiters from asking whether someone was gay? Repealing DADT would not allow gays into the military; it would make things worse for them, unless they also repeal the ban on homosexuality in the military.
This was another despicable filibuster from the Right. I've heard it said that it's based on continuing prejudice toward gays, but I think it's another victory for Obama the Right wants to avoid.

I leave that opinon to the military. I would not presume to think I know better how to handle personel service and living conditions in any theater of battle or training than do they. You see, the military is the one place in our society that behavior really does matter on every level. Those behaviors directly affect the lives and safety of everyone else. I think the military is best suited to judge this issue and not those of us outside of the system. Of course I fully expect you and other gay activists to disagree.

I personally believe that this had as much to do with the DREAM act as it did with DADT, the DREAM act is amnesty in it's purest form and the American people are against it. If Harry really wanted DADT repealed he wouldn't bundle it in a defense funding bill along with the DREAM act. Some would like to make this vote to be only about DADT but that's simply not true.
