Instead of getting rid of them, Congress should just allow anyone over 18 to buy into Medicare and have all children covered from birth.

No, I want the insurance companies to be completely destroyed. In exactly the same way that they have been the true death panel. You see, we could have had the best health care system in the world, but we didn't because of greed. And with the insurance companies, there will always be that greed.

Right, but I don't think it's legal to completely abolish them, so make them compete against Medicare or go out of business. I'm sure that almost everyone would rather buy into Medicare than buy into private health insurance. Just make it a choice and let the people kill off the private insurers.

Greed would never factor into government run health care, right? The government would spend whatever is necessary to save each and every human life without regard to expense. Yeah right.

Medicare saves more people than private insurance does. The government doesn't need to turn a profit. Private insurance companies need to turn a profit. Now which system has the incentive to spend less money?

As long as they die a painful death without pomp and ceremony. Not one cross on the highway. Not one. In exactly the way that they have meeted that out to others.

My preference is for them to be abolished, otherwise, they will maintain the same strategy as before.

Could you dig a little deeper into the material?

I'm with you 100%, I just think that practically, abolishing them wouldn't work. It's sickening that private insurance companies even exist.

The governnment has no incentive to please the client, nor does it have to worry about competition.

Private companies have to consider competition, and consider patient satsifaction. Haven't you seen those patient satisfaction surveys they conduct? Have you ever seen the government conduct one to find out how satisfied the people are with the government?

If a private insurance company can't keep sufficient numbers of its insured people satisfied, those people will go elsewhere and the company will go out of business. They have to balance profit with customer satisfaction.

Now, who do you think has a greater incentive? The insurance companies who compete with each other, or the government which competes with no one, does not *need* to make a profit, and cannot go out of business.

Besides, I'd much rather have a choice than not!

You might want to provide a link to those numbers, as they don't jibe with the most recent USA Today poll listed at RealClearPolitics, in which Obamacare is opposed 56/39 - a 17% spread. That's pretty huge. The RCP average is 38/53 against.

Yes, the bill is "overwhelmingly unpopular."
