And Ins. co's make money by speculation, they do not sell health insurance unless a person is 100% no-risk. If anyone ever worked for them theyd comprehend this.
Boo hoo hoo.. The same people work their assess off and cant afford cars, they cant afford heat, they cant afford electricity, some are faced with having their water bills cut off.. What next, give everyone free utilities?
If people work their asses off and still can't afford electricity and water in 2010, then the system is broken. Is this your free market utopia?

blame the various governments for that with all the mandates that have been put on the insurance companies over the years, add to that the lawyers who will sue anyone at the drop of a hat, anyones hat, forcing doctors to practice defensive medicine, all of which drives the cost of health care way up. add in the pharmaceutical companies, and their penchant for changing drug formulas slightly to extend their patents on drugs, and things get real expensive real quick.
Among other reasons (e.g. insurance companies are not innocent) you're right, and these are good examples of why we need to move forward on health care reform. Too bad many of those who just got elected will only want to go backwards.
Of course they don't. Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't the brightest bulb in the fixture.
But to a lesser extent the Democrats don't really care about us either. Sure they pretend to. But the way they fold under the pressure of the Republicans whenever trying to do something for the common Joe proves otherwise.
And sure the 8 years of Republican rule allowed Corporate America and Wall street to **** all over us. But Obama was the one who allowed the bailouts. And what did the Democrats do to stop those snakes from giving themselves multi-million dollar bonuses with those bailouts? Nothing. Democrats are worthless and Republicans are evil righty-extremists. The Democrats will habitually roll over when the Republicans pressure them and we'll continue to take it in the backdoor. Sad but true.

you are partially right, we do need health care reform, just not what the democrats foisted on us. you are wrong however that the republicans dont want real health care reform, they do. in fact they tried in the last two years to get their voices heard, but they were drowned out by the democrats claiming they were the party of no.

The GOP keeps showing its hand but too much of the public refuses to see it. In their actions they repeatedly move against the interests of middle class working Americans. At some point, this may catch up to them. In the short term, they've been able to parlay silly "culture war" talking points into support from working Americans.
