Wheee! This just gets funnier and funnier... Thank you, Delaware Tea Party voters, for providing us with such quality entertainment!

I'm cool with Obama's folks being voted out and opposing ideas being voted in, but next time...can we at least pick some half-way intelligent people? Is that too much to ask?
No, listening to the ENTIRE exchange, now I guess THAT"S too much to ask for!

“Where in the Constitution is the separation of church and state?” O'Donnell asked Coons as the audience laughed.

He said it was in the 1st Amendment.

“Let me clarify,” O’Donnell continued. “You’re telling me that separation of church and state is in 1st Amendment?”
************************

The First amendment has nothing in it concerning the seperation of church and state, it ONLY specifies that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.

Where did you park your brains? Have you ever read the First Amendment? Where do you find the words, "separation of church and state"? That particular clause which has been called the "establishment clause", is addressed to Congress, and it reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ... "

It is there to protect the Church.

Time for a little study, I think, huh???.

Thank God, O'Donnell is one who understands what the Constitution says!

Good for her! I heard a transcript of that. She did well. She was right on the money!!!

Go Christine!!!

Another smart woman who will defeat these liberal idiots!
What exactly happens then, when public schools, government funded schools, start teaching religious doctrine? The schools are going to have a variety of different religions represented by the student body. The students who don't believe in this religion, they should be forced to study it, should be forced to take tests on religious material? And that squares with freedom of religion in what universe?

This is so IRONIC. You left out the end of the ENTIRE exchange. I guess that's par for the course, then?

The Anderson Cooper video clip is still the lead story on the CNN website today. Not a word in the clip about Coons' flub about not being able to name the other freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment. But......what can be expected from a left wing news source like CNN that is firmly planted in the Obama camp?

Not a word about the riots in France.......

Coons didn't flub a question about the First Amendment. O'Donnell BROKE the rules by asking the question, Coons FOLLOWED the rules by refusing to answer her question. It's a debate, not a free-for-all. The moderators ask the questions, not the debaters.

Since when do you care about "socialist" Europe?
Let me guess: Fox showed the riots in France, but left out that the economy in "socialist" Germany has been growing for months now.

You are still harping on this? Seriously? Geez, let it go already. O'Donnell never said anything about forcing anyone to learn anything. Creationism is fine to be taught in schools as long as it isn't taught in science class right? So what is your problem with what she said? She was right, Progressives don't know what Separation of Church and State actually means and it does not say that in the 1st amendment. It says what every other poster has told you it says including me.
