Angle and (especially) O'Donnell were weak candidates, no question. Certainly stronger ones may have resulted in a Republican Senate win.
Having said that, you can't dismiss the effects of the Tea Party on this election. Solid wins with Rubio, Haley, Paul. Multiple wins in the House and Governorships. Even non Tea Party affiliated candidates that ran on the Tea agenda came out ahead.
Not bad for a two year old movement. The Libertarian Party, Green Party..all have been around much longer-with nowhere near the impact. It was a good night for the Tea Party.
Oh.but they gave them so much more including 10 govenorships in a year that cencus will allow them to control redistricting. Then of course the state house changes.
What would it have gotten us to put in liberal republican candidates like Murkowski, Scozzafava, Castle, or Specter? We get too many liberal weenies in there and then both parties look the same to the voters.
We only had 33% of the senate up for election this time around, we have 66% of the senate coming due in the next four years. So we just keep trying to elect the best conservatives we can find, and reject all the progressive sellouts. In four years we will have good people in the US government and we can save this country from becoming 0bama Ville or Greece.
Miracles will not happen over night, but we did strike close to puling one off this election cycle. At least we have stopped 0bama's neoMarxist agenda.
Absolutely they did. They've got the same problem playing out now on a national level if Palin runs.
