Should your kids be taken away if you let them get obese?
Places like SF want to ban Happy meals rather than expect parents to parent...
Why not take it a step further and classify obesity as child abuse?
thats like saying........is letting your kid watch tv or listen to loud music child abuse cause it can hurt their eyes and ears............... you people are too much.
Nope. YOu aren't think this through. Negligence can and is child abuse. I fyou were an alcoholic and you get passed out drunk and your child gets hurt while you are passed out, you are guilty of child abuse... YOu didn't "intend" for it to happen, but your negligence allowed it to happen.
Feeding your kids unhealthy foods is a deliberate act.
do your kids play outside? if so you are abusing them, they could develop skin cancer later on in life, we could go on with this all night.

Some people will never be happy until our lives are regulated to "their standards" and what they feel is correct.
Because of the "you have to be physically protected" crowd we'll all be wearing nerf suits and crash helmets.

Due to the "eat healthy or else" crowd we'll be eating veggies grown on protected land watered by sterile water tended to by people who live in mud huts and who worship the eco-terrorist paul watson.
It would be really nice if they were able to get vigorous exercise at school, but then the trial lawyers started showing up in droves when kids started falling off swings and monkeybars, or getting hit in the nose playing dodgeball, tetherball, or other recess-period sports.
Consequently millions of schools have had their playgrounds turned into enormous patches of grass......
Education funding cuts also gutted most physical education programs, eliminated funding for sports, and allows for only sub-nutritious lunch menus.
Some kids are naturally chubby/fat due to genetics or other medical reasons (low thyroid, growth issues, etc). How are you going to prove what fat kid was "abused" and which wasn't?

If a child actually has Insulin dependent diabetes and the parents do not control the diet and medication and the child constantly has ketoacidosis as a result, that child can be taken away due to neglect.
