No, abortion shouldn't be used as birth control, it's murder.

But I think it's sad that 72% of all black babies are born to unmarried parents. On average, blacks have the lowest income of any ethnic groups in our country, and it's probably even lower for unmarried black women, thus causing difficult conditions for the mother and her children.

thats the truth right there-

From the OP's article... while Blacks have the highest percentage..the overall US percent of unwed mothers is over 40%. Soon that will reach 50%..half of American babies will be born to unwed mothers. What does that say about society and it's values ? Blacks just happen to have a higher number but they are not the only ones..just #1 at this point in time.

"The black community's 72 percent rate eclipses that of most other groups: 17 percent of Asians, 29 percent of whites, 53 percent of Hispanics and 66 percent of Native Americans were born to unwed mothers in 2008, the most recent year for which government figures are available. The rate for the overall U.S. population was 41 percent."

When black men witness that now even whites and Asians are tumbling down the social ladder, that might not exactly be encouraging, either.

What more people need to realize, is that illegal immigration has hurt this minority more than anytihng, in competition for jobs, and resources.

HOUSTON – One recent day at Dr. Natalie Carroll's OB-GYN practice, located inside a low-income apartment complex tucked between a gas station and a freeway, 12 pregnant black women come for consultations. Some bring their children or their mothers. Only one brings a husband.

Seventy-two percent of black babies are born to unmarried mothers today, according to government statistics. This number is inseparable from the work of Carroll, an obstetrician who has dedicated her 40-year career to helping black women.

We all make choices and those choices have consequences. I detest the concept that the pregnancy of these women are somehow "beyond their control" and that they are simply poor victims of some horrible power that is determined to keep them in poverty.

They need to say NO when someone offers to have sex with them out of wedlock. It's very simple. I've said it many times and probably so have most of the decent women on this message board. No. As far as I know, every language has the equivalent in their lexicon. Even the African American community.

I have more respect for an African American Mother who is struggling with the effects of how the African American family was destroyed by racism, and still working through the effects slavery on the family unit, than an illlegal Mexican Mother who came here simply to breed for benefits, and have anchor babies. Which minority has earned the right to be considered Amercian? Which minority has suffered for equality in the country? Which one should be given more consideration for jobs and resources? I know my answer....

The connection between Black male job opportunities and the rise in female headed homes was mentioned in the 60's.

The Moynihan Report has had long-lasting and important implications. Writing to President Lyndon Johnson, then-Assistant Secretary of Labor Patrick Moynihan argued that, without access to jobs and the means to contribute meaningful support to a family, black men would become systematically alienated from their roles as husbands and fathers. This would cause rates of divorce, abandonment and out-of-wedlock births to skyrocket in the black community...

Aren't there laws against black marriage?

Like, welfare laws, or something?
