For the GOP, California is a deep blue hole - latimes.com

The Los Angeles Times and University of Southern California are probably the best in analyzing California thinking and political trends. Their polling during the election turned out to be the most accurate; on election night the LA Times waited politely for 10 minutes after the polls closed to call the election in favor of the Democratic party and they were correct on every race. So, now this latest poll must be extremely bad news for California Republicans.

"California voters surveyed in the poll repudiated the Republican party's stance on illegal immigration by endorsing a host of positions intended to make it easier for the undocumented to gain legal status. Their support for same-sex marriage outnumbered that opposing any legal recognition by more than 3 to 1. Californians also endorsed an assertive role for government in protecting minority citizens, regulating corporations and helping the poor and needy, and rejected arguments that an activist role for government had harmed the fiber of American society".

Of interest is the number of voters who said that they would NEVER vote for a Republican [20%] and how overwhelmingly liberal those 30 years old or younger, Latinos, women. Also support for President Obama at 64% is one of the highest in the nation.

CA should secede and take Pelosi with them. Let her be their queen.

ETA: Oh, wait, I forgot, they're broke.

So basically what you're saying is California is run by Democrats, the people in California support Democrats and recently the people elected or reelected a bunch of Democrats to continue to run California which is bankrupt, heading down in a financial spiral and welcoming illegal immigrants by the thousands... and this is somehow bad news for the GOP? The GOP has pretty much written CA off as a loss like the rest of the country.

Many Californians dream about leaving the union but that would make the U.S. a boring Midwest and Southern nation like Wisconsin. Too bad but progressive trends go from West to East; get ready for the California wave, homer!

There isn't a better place so those who chose to leave California go to a "cheap" place. One has to pay to live in California and for many people it is worth every cent. Moving to Texas or the Midwest is basically having to surrender to bad taste and Bible-belt mentality. That is way too demeaning for most Californians.

And that is exactly why the rest of the country doesn't support helping California with any kind of bailout, because the state doesn't deserve it nor does anyone outside of CA care enough to save it. Enjoy utopia, we're enjoying watching it crumble.
