That is exactly how it is. Using a gun demands much less thought and inflicts less psychological damage in comparison, for instance, to killing via stabbing.

Could you provide any....umm....evidence of this?

To use the recent shooting in Arizona, how far away was the shooter to Giffords?
20 feet?
50 feet?

Knives are the weapons of choice for killers and are used in more than half of all slayings in Scotland, according to the latest figures. While the number of homicides is down overall, the proportion carried out using knives or other bladed weapons is at a record high at 58 per cent.
There was renewed concern yesterday that in 41 per cent of homicides the perpetrators were high on drink or drugs.

It's a coward's weapon.

if a couple of thugs are entering my home with knives, i would rather take them on with a gun period.!!!!it's not a coward weapon,!! what if those two thugs are planning to rob and rape an old lady?? do you think the old lady is going to put up a good fight with a knife.. or what if it's 3 to one.?? three creeps with knives against one home owner, sorry but i would choose the double barrel shot gun for an equalizer this is not the movies..

Pretty big IF; and how often does this happen per capita in your city/county/state?

If it's my family, once is too many. Right?

Look, you think guns are silly, unnecessary and awful, don't own them. Pretty simple.

Don't tell me, a law abiding, tax paying citizen that I am not allowed to own one, however.

Consider:

Gun crime at decade-long low in Scotland
Quote:
Official figures show there were 949 offences involving guns in the 2008-09, 17 per cent fewer than the previous year’s total.
This is the smallest annual number of gun offences in ten years, beating the previous low of 958 that was recorded in 2003-04.
The drinking culture is a massive contributing factor to knife crime, but even so the article states that homicide is down overall.

If I understand this line of 'thinking',because it might not happen,it is better to not be armed.

I am starting to think debating with some posters on here is a little pointless as they have nothing but emotion to support their position.

Got a problem with comprehension?
Did I ever say that you're not allowed to own one?
Try a little honesty in your posts, it would be refreshing.
