Hey, I'm just going by what I see pretty much every night I go out in Athens, GA. Sorry we all can't be on the cutting edge of irony like folks in SF bay area!

One of the most true statements posted on CD.

Why? "cool" is subjective, you won't agree no matter what city is named.

Is "cool and hip" another way of saying "over crowded, over taxed, over priced and crime ridden"?

Actually, cool and hip would probably mean a lively business district, with good shopping options, clean streets, and a lively music and bar scene.

I think the downtown area of Freeport, Maine is cool and hip.

Your status says you live in the Rose Capital of the World: no way is Portland, OR a conservative city.

How the progressives say? - sustainability? Forget about it.
Well that is false, but don't let facts get in your way, you keep on believing.

I lived in a 'conservative' town and couldn't wait to leave. It was boring, the people were super judgey and drugs were rampant. Are drugs still rampant in my new 'liberal' city? Sure, but we don't pretend they don't exist which just lets them fester. Pretending that your town is an 'old fashioned country town' while standing next to a meth head trying to buy cough syrup and 17 year old single mom with 2 kids always seemed kind of silly to me.

I thought I was going to be homesick when I moved, but I find I get sick when I think about the possibility of ever moving back.

Very true. But in terms of cities, I just don't think there are many that could be termed conservative. Maybe Oklahoma City, Birmingham, and Wichita. Medium sized cities in deep red states. But major cities that are considered conservative? I can't think of one.

You got Houston, Dalla, and San Antonio from texas, they have populations over one million.

Many of the vocal politicians from there are conservatives.

Well, I don't know much about the cities. All I know is that they are all major cities in Texas, a conservative state by voting record.
