Easy, tax fat people. Once a year, within 30 days of your birthday, you report to a government weigh station, your tax rate will be adjusted accordingly.

This will help on two fronts:

1. You will raise more tax money than you did by taxing cigs.

2. You will begin to ease the burden the overweight put on our healthcare industry. {They are now a bigger burden than smokers.}

It uses the same strategy used against smokers. The more cigs cost......the less people will smoke. The more being fat costs......the more likely you are to do something about your weight.

Sin taxes......a time honored tradition used to control the masses.

The "rat poison" you're referring to is arsenic, which isn't "man made." It's an element.

Tobacco isn't?

Gosh, it's a miracle you're still alive to tell the story, what with tobacco being as dangerous as you seem to think it is...

What hypocrisy. Pretty typical hypocrisy among those who have been successfully brainwashed, such as yourself, but hypocrisy just the same.

Don't worry. It's coming.

The tax is already around 2,650 % That was done in April 2 years ago. No made a peep about it. The tax varries some depending on the type of bacca, pipe is a little less, store bought smokes is higher, and to roll your own is about the top %.

The Govt learned they can tax anything at these rates.

I don't care. I don't buy much.

HT, Maybe in that they consume less. Not buying is totally tax free so far. I hear the Govt is working on that though, so pretty soon it might be the very air we breath is taxed.

The Govt is very into controll and most things you many not like are designed to make you accustomed to being controlled. Like that TSA grope.

For the last 20 years i sort of had this idea the Govt wants us all to be criminals. low key criminals, since they don't want us to compete with them exactly, but want total controll. I expect to made a criminal before I die. I am not going to be controlled very well.

Not tax breaks.......people who maintain a normal weight will not have to pay the sin tax for being fat, just like non drinkers and non smokers do now.

Isn't that the American way?

Reagan always said that if you want to kill something tax it.

He was wrong, it only makes it a criminal exercise. Personally I see this as an opportunity for the entrepreneur. Learn to grow it while its still legal, then sell it at a cheaper price.

Why do you think people still make moonshine? Taxes.

Those new SCHIP taxes are the reason I stopped making my own. What were $7 cartons became $25 cartons - there was no point in continuing, when generics cost that anyway.

Incidentally, those tax increases were the largest in U.S. history, and signing that bill into law was the first significant thing Obama did as President. Mr. "not any of your taxes" went back on that promise in his first month in office.
