Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere are indisputably increasing, and global temperatures are indisputably increasing in step with them.

If I may paraphrase Wikipedia, 64.5% - nearly two-thirds - of published scientific analysis agrees that human activity is causing global warming, and this percentage has been increasing steadily as time passes. Now that's a significant minority.

Global temperature affects climate, which determines weather. So, if climate changes, weather will too. It would seem very foolish to assert that this won't matter; but one's politics certainly won't influence things. Mr Moore's prognostications are interesting, to be sure; but - as has correctly been pointed out - he may not be entirely dispassionate. In any event, the odds are, let's say, against him (2 to 1 on?).

So, being neither a climatologist nor even an environmentalist (whatever that may be understood to mean); and being conservative in some matters and liberal in others, but mostly a rational middle-of-the-roader, I'm disposed to turn to the precautionary principle. Anyone can look that one up, but no-one (barring those who imagine that everything - including Wikipedia - is a dastardly conspiracy) can take much comfort from it.

European energy policy has set strict targets for switching power generation from fossil fuels to renewables. I think that's probably wise. Technology advances, and renewables have potential to save us all a shed-load of money in the long run, whatever about saving the planet.

Now, that's rational, isn't it?

Man made Global Warming is one of the most ridiculous notions mankind has come up with since bloodletting and believing in witchcraft and will be looked at as just as ridiculous in the future.

You may be right - and I, along with ⅔ of the entire global scientific community, should be truly delighted and greatly relieved to see your conclusive research confirming this assertion.

Please do not keep us waiting; you are either right, or wrong; and a lot of public expenditure worldwide is in the balance.
