Did you get a load of the most recent employment stats - a grand total of 36,000 jobs created. About 1/3 of Canada's gain!!!

WRONG direction for USA

RIGHT direction for Canada

Here's a good article. It compares the adjustments made last year by the BLS and this year by the BLS. Actually a good apples to apples comparison of the adjustments made that created the huge drop in the unemployment number.

One big item..only 63% of Americans are in the labor force now - lowest percentage in 25 years; that's a pretty scary number if you think about it. The other 37% don't work for one reason or another.

And yet another article. I mentioned this morning it would take time for Wall Street to digest and analyze this January report.

His advice was to ignore this report and wait for next month.

Only thing we know is job crisis isn
"Between the weather and the new statistical controls, we can’t really say with much confidence how much the employment situation improved between December and January, or if it improved at all. We can be pretty sure, however, that the unemployment crisis isn’t over, not by a long shot."

Statistics are being adjusted. Is that really cause for glee from Obama supporters ? Moving in the right direction because the numbers in a chart got adjusted ? Doesn't take much to please some people does it ?

I am glad to see the truth finally working its way down the wire. Although I must admit, my confidence in the BLS may have been permanently eroded today. Makes me wonder if any other years experience this discrepancy.

They do this every year. That's one reason to follow shadowstats who take the raw numbers and still use the 1994 calculations. That would produce true apple to apple comparisons. Shadowstats is showing 22% unemployment.

The far left Obamabots don't seem to understand where unemployment numbers are derived; or, they just enjoy perpetuating untruths. I hope in the UE case it is the former and not the latter.

21 months of the highest unemployment numbers since this country started keeping track. Now that is a platform upon which Obama can campaign and be proud.
