At the supermarket check-out one has a choice of various publications with photos and info about various celebrities; at the beach, restaurant, on trips, night clubs, shopping, etc. Photographers often take shots with telephoto lenses of secret affairs. The public eats up all the photos and stories.
Why doesn't the US media do the same about the activities of the lobbyists?
Maybe we could see exclusive photos of Senator X being treated to lavish gifts from Corporation Y. The Senator may find himself pictured with lobbyists on the magazine cover. Quite possibly, that meeting was secret and the Senator would not like the public to know about it.

our media is made up of multiple private companies/corporations ( PBS/NPR kind of straddles the fence ) . they sell advertising, their advertisers want peoples attention. pretty celebrities does that better than lobbyist.

it's a simple formula.
I don't know if that is necessarily true. The media jumped all over the stanford story. That was about an illicit affair, but how many lobbyist use women as a tool. I think that would be interesting and newsworthy.

I think it is because actual investigative reporting on mainstream media is almost non-existent. Only the stories or propaganda that support or are benign to the agendas of five or six media multi-national-mega-media corporations will ever make air. Allowing the exposure of the overwhelming corruption of the lobbyists and politicians would most certainly be self-incrimination.

Excellent question and one I have often asked myself. If they were being honest they'd have to admit that lobbyists have been running this country for years now and I find it interesting that reporters will jump at the opportunity to "catch" a politician in a sexual indiscrection that, while bad, hurts no one but their family. But the politicians' dealings with lobbyists, which are destroying our country, are ignored,
Becasue they report only what they CHOOSE to report, and what makes good NEWS!
