Is it okay to protest at people's homes? Does the homeowner or their neighbors have any recourse or does it depend upon what state you are in?

No...it's only ok if you are a Democrat protestor.

Perish forbid you are a Tea Party member.

Exactly, the loony left will say it is ok, well that is until Tea Partiers start showing up on union leaders lawns.

You do not have the right to protest on private property.

Technically, you have the right to free speech. It is extremely tacky though.

If trespassing on private property, it's not okay.
If trespassing on estate, it's okay.

If you are on public ground, and have a properly filled out permit to have a gathering of people, yes.

Now, after a day or so, the home owner should have the right to have the protest license terminated. I also think that the protest should be limited to certain hours of the day, so as not to disturb peoples sleep.

Why, you must remember the video of those union thugs protesting at some bank exec's home - right on his lawn, front porch, while his kid was in the house?

I find it to be in very poor taste. Even people who one greatly disagrees with politically deserve a few hours to themselves and their families, IMO.
